This short, steep climb leaves the coast at El Sauzal, on the north side of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Spain, and rises into La Matanza de Acentejo. Both lie in Tacoronte-Acentejo, which in 1992 became the first wine region in the Canaries to gain its own denomination of origin; its main red grape is Listán negro.

This ride starts on Camino Rojas near the shore and climbs the hillside in hairpins. It ends at Lomo la Candelaria, below the town of La Matanza de Acentejo, which takes its name from a battle fought in the Barranco de Acentejo in 1494.
