Quiraing (East side)

The Quiraing is a landslip on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, at the north end of the Trotternish ridge on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK. The road from Staffin climbs its face in tight bends, and this is the side Simon Warren chose for Another 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs. Victorian visitors came to see its strange shapes; the poet Alexander Smith called it ‘a nightmare of nature’.

This ride starts on the bends above Brogaig and climbs to the top. Above the road rise the rock formations known as the Needle, the Table and the Prison. From the top the ride runs down the long western side to Uig, and then south on the A87 above Loch Snizort to Romesdal.
