Stolowe Mountains NP from Kudowa Zdroj

Stolowe Mountains (Table Mountains) National Park - one of 23 national parks in Poland, established 1993. It covers an area situated in the region of Lower Silesia, being exceptionally rich in wonders of nature and historical monuments of many backgrounds, also constituting a part of the Sudetes. The landscape of Table Mountains began to form 70 million years ago. The range’s unique shape is a result of hundreds of thousands of years of erosion. These mountains with plated structure, which are rare in Europe, are built of horizontal joint sandstones. The Stolowe Mountains owe their name to the fact that they resemble a flat table. Stolowe Mountains attract tourists with fantastic rock formations characteristic only of this part of Poland. The intriguing landscape includes rocks resembling animals, e.g. a squirrel, a hen, an elephant or mushroom, clubs and gates.
