Col de la Cayolle
The Col de la Cayolle is a hidden gem in the French Alps, offering a spectacular but lesser-known climb compared to other famous cols like the Col d’Izoard or Galibier. Situated between the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Alpes-Maritimes, this pass reaches 2,326 meters in elevation and presents a beautiful, peaceful ride through remote alpine scenery, narrow gorges, and lush forests. The Col de la Cayolle is much quieter than other major Alpine passes, making it ideal for cyclists who prefer solitude. Though the climb is long, the gradients are relatively manageable, making it suitable for intermediate riders with good endurance.
