Ironman Boulder loop
Ironman Boulder was a highly regarded triathlon event held in Boulder, Colorado, attracting elite athletes and amateurs alike. Although the full-distance Ironman event was discontinued after 2019, Boulder remains a hub for endurance sports, offering Ironman 70.3 (half-distance) races, as well as an ideal environment for triathlon training year-round. Boulder is a triathlon mecca, home to many professional athletes and ideal for endurance training due to its high elevation (5,400 ft / 1,650 m). Boulder’s elevation makes it an ideal location for altitude training, forcing athletes to adapt to less oxygen. Many professionals base their training here to boost endurance and VO2 max before key events. If you’re visiting to race, it’s recommended to arrive at least a week early to begin acclimating to the altitude, especially if you’re coming from sea level.
