Boulder Canyon, located just west of Boulder, Colorado, is a stunning area known for its scenic beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities, and accessibility from the city. The canyon follows Boulder Creek as it cuts through the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, offering a mix of climbing, hiking, and cycling experiences. Cycling Boulder Canyon is popular among both recreational and serious cyclists. The canyon offers a steady climb, starting at an elevation of about 5,400 feet in Boulder and rising to over 7,000 feet near the town of Nederland. The ride is challenging due to the elevation gain (roughly 2,000 feet over 15 miles), but the road is paved and offers a wide shoulder for much of the route, making it safer for cyclists. Boulder Creek runs alongside the road for much of the route, providing a scenic and serene backdrop.
