Ride Country Source du Doubs (Jura Mountains)  Strava Segment

At an altitude of 942m in Mouthe, in the northern triangle of Haut-Doubs, the river Doubs takes its source by gushing out of a 55m siphon. Whimsical and versatile throughout its 453 km course, the Doubs was baptized "dubius" by Julius Caesar, because of its indecisive temperament. With a length of 453 kilometers, the Doubs has the overall shape of an M with very elongated legs: thus, the distance as the crow flies between its source and its confluence is only 93 kilometers. It first flows north-east, then, after a short northward climb upstream from Montbéliard, it flows south-west to its confluence with the Saône at Verdun-sur-le-Doubs.
