Jackson Creek (gravel)
West Jackson Creek Road is a gravel climb in Douglas County, Colorado, USA, from Perry Park Road into Pike National Forest and the Rampart Range. The forest was established in 1892 and named after the explorer Zebulon Pike. The range, 44 miles long, is almost entirely public land within the forest.
The ride starts on Perry Park Road north of Perry Park, known for its red sandstone of the Fountain Formation; the land was bought in 1870 by John D. Perry, president of the Kansas Pacific Railroad. The ride heads north to the Jackson Creek turn, then climbs west up the gravel into the forest. It ends just below Rampart Range Road, which leads south to Devils Head, the range’s highest point. Its fire lookout is the last still in service on Colorado’s Front Range.
