Pré de Madame Carle
Pré de Madame Carle is a beautiful alpine valley located in the Hautes-Alpes department in southeastern France, at the foot of the Écrins Massif within the Écrins National Park. This area is known for its stunning mountain scenery, proximity to glaciers, and its popularity among hikers, mountaineers, and nature lovers. Pré de Madame Carle serves as a gateway to the higher peaks and glaciers of the Écrins Range, making it a key starting point for numerous outdoor activities. The valley is framed by two significant glaciers: the Glacier Blanc and the Glacier Noir, both of which are accessible by well-maintained trails from the Pré de Madame Carle. The Écrins region has a rich mountaineering history. La Barre des Écrins was once considered the highest peak in France before the annexation of Savoy in 1860, which brought Mont Blanc (4,810 meters) within France’s borders.
