Liège
Liège is a vibrant city located in the Wallonia region of Belgium, near the borders with Germany and the Netherlands. Known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and industrial roots, it has also become synonymous with endurance sports, thanks to the famous Liège-Bastogne-Liège cycling race. Liège is situated along the Meuse River, with hills surrounding the city. The city features a mix of urban development and green spaces, with rolling hills that challenge cyclists and provide beautiful views. Liège-Bastogne-Liège (La Doyenne) is one of cycling’s five Monuments, this one-day classic is the oldest race on the professional calendar, first held in 1892. The race starts and finishes in Liège, covering a grueling 250 km (155 miles), with steep climbs through the Ardennes region.
